The Abbotsford Board of Education regularly meets throughout the school year. Agendas and minutes from the public Board Meetings can be accessed through the District's Electronic School Board. Below is a summary of highlights from the meeting. To do our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and for everyone's safety, all public meetings of the Abbotsford Board of Education will be closed to the public and held virtually until further notice. The meetings will also be live-streamed.
Students shared with trustees the experiences and activities of the Indigenous Student Council at Chief Dan George Middle School. The students also shared how student voice has been embedded in the Indigenous Program (St’elakw) through their Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity & Recreation Council (ISPARC) activities.
Superintendent Godden provided the Board with an update regarding the Strategic Plan. As part of the continuous improvement cycle, staff will outline the process for evaluating last year’s strategy, spending, and district-wide outcomes to revise and update the budget and strategic plan for the 2022-23 school year.
Superintendent Godden presented a high-level summary of where the district stands concerning the work of Toti:ltcha, our future learning plan.
Trustee Latham moved, seconded by Trustee Pauls, to approve the original motion 'THAT the Board of Education adopt the revised local school calendar for the 2022-2023 school year. The motion was carried 5 - 1.
A recommendation was put forward THAT the Board of Education approve the list of the Yale Hockey Academy fees for 2022-2023 as presented.
A recommendation was put forward THAT the Board of Education appoint Douglas MacAdams (Chair), Jackie Hogan, Kevin Mierau, John Morrow and Shannon Rose to the external Ad-Hoc Trustee Indemnity Committee.
Secretary-Treasurer Velestuk provided the Board of Education with an update regarding the restoration progress at Upper Sumas Elementary.
A recommendation was put forward THAT the Board of Education approve the amount of $500 representing hole sponsorship in support of the 2022 Archway Community Services Charity Golf Tournament.
