Registration K-5 at King Traditional Elementary
Are you interested in registering your child at King Traditional Elementary?
The following information outlines the registration process for students wishing to attend our school in the 2024/2025 school year. Please take a look and let us know if you have any questions. We are here to help!
Step 1: Register at your catchment school
The first thing that you need to do is register at your catchment school! Kindergarten registration at your local school can happen as of January 15th, 2024. Applicants to King will not be considered until you have fully registered at your catchment school. To find out what catchment school is near your house, check out the SD34 catchment/school locator found on the District website. Information on how to register can also be found on our District Website: abbyschools.ca/kindergarten. Call your catchment school for more information.
Step 2: Apply to the district program lottery
The Lottery for District Programs will open at 8 am on Monday, January 22nd, 2024 and close at 4 pm on Friday, January 26th. The link to the Lottery registration can be found on the District Website during these dates. The lottery is not a first come first serve system, but rather a random draw. The names of successful candidates drawn will be given to the school, and then contacted based on the number of spots available.
Step 3: If selected by the district program lottery:
You will be contacted and asked to come to King and receive a registration package to complete. Our office staff will be happy to walk you through the application process and explain what supporting documents are needed.
When will I hear by?
The whole process usually takes 2-4 weeks. We will reach out and contact you as soon as we receive our successful lottery names from the district. If you have not heard in this timeframe and would like an update, please feel free to call our office.
What if I would like to register for a grade other than Kindergarten?
On January 29th 2024 at 8am, a registration link will go live on our school website. You can apply for any grades using this link. Unlike the lottery, this link provides the school the names of those interested in registering, and students are admitted by following the district’s established registration priorities. Priority is given to siblings or current students and then in-district students on a first-come first-served basis. All applications will be date and time-stamped. Space is limited and names for full classes will be placed on a waitlist. Please contact our office to discuss availability or if you have any questions.
If you are experiencing trouble or have any questions, please contact our office and we can help.
Please note that the waitlist resets every year in January when the next waitlist link comes out!
